Ethics Statement

The Flavor Chase paid for this flower. Though we have occasionally spoken to Flow Gardens, the company has no influence over the contents of this review, nor were they allowed to preview prior to public release. The only money exchanged was paying for the flower. Flow Gardens is aware that the quality of every product that comes through The Flavor Chase must speak for itself. And Flow is here to compete. So, let’s get into the review. Side note: I did glass cure this flower roughly 7 days prior to this review.

Appearance

PBOZK has a pretty unique appearance. A little bit of a looser, foxtail sativa shape, with some fat density to it. It’s a beautiful mix of light green and purple, with dark orange, borderline brown pistils. The trichome coverage is heavy with thicker clusters like many Type I and II flowers possess. The cure is perfect, with buds easily snapping off of the stem while still being sticky enough for a grinder to be recommended. Don’t wanna lose those trichomes and terpenes to your finger tips. While it is a beautiful flower, I do think that its looks will improve as the strain is dialed in. I’d also love to see this grown in living soil.

Nose

The nose is even more unique than the appearance. Linalool and limonene are the 2 dominant terpenes, but this don’t smell anything like lavender and citrus. While your experience may vary, to me, this smells like a meal. More specifically, grilled Mediterranean style lamb. Like seasonings, spices and gamey meat. I’ve had some OZK F2 phenotypes that smell like a cooked meat and maybe that could be dominating the terpene profile of this flower. When you break the flower down a bit of a peanut smell comes out, but it really just adds to the terpene profile without becoming the dominant note. It’s different, and while I like it, it may not be for everyone.

The Smoking Experience (Taste and Effect)

I rolled approximately 1 – 2 grams in a RAW Black hemp paper. As mentioned earlier, the cure on this flower is pretty much perfect. This makes the rolling experience extremely smooth and easy, with the fluffy milled material easily taking shape and holding together. Once rolled, that dry hit is like tasting food. If I didn’t have the munchies, I could see how something like this could stimulate some appetites.

Lighting the joint with a hemp wick, the initial note is impressive smoothness. Visually, the ash is light gray and a bit of resin begins forming on the interior of the paper. Surprisingly, and somewhat disappointing, after getting through those initial hits, there isn’t as much going to the flavor as I thought there would be. Inhales are incredibly smooth, as well as the nostril exhale. But the flavor on the nostril exhale is mostly neutral in taste, with slight spicy kush notes in the after taste. Truthfully, I was expecting some lamb on the sizzle. That goes to show you though that with cannabis sometimes what you smell isn’t what you taste when you light it. I’d be interested to see what this tastes like in a vaporizer. Maybe more of the nose would be retained.

Flow lists this as a 50/50 hybrid flower with equal parts CBDa:THCa making this a balanced 1:1. Effects began to present at about 1/2 way through the joint. There’s a certain sativa clarity to this one. I can feel a cerebral change, but it isn’t like their Body Odor Berries. Whereas BOB can be a little more uplifting, PBOZK is more clearheaded. Shortly after, the tension in my neck, shoulder and back releases and stretching becomes much easier. However, interestingly enough, though my muscles are relaxed, I’m not relaxed enough to go to sleep. My mind is clear and active with things to work on and get prepped for. For that reason I could see this being a good flower for middle of the day – early evening usage. Something that could stimulate your brain while relaxing your body. Try using this one while listening to an audiobook, a podcast or doing a lighter physical activity such as walking or before stretching. Hell, it might make a good study companion for some of you.

Final Thoughts and Shelf Placement

Flow has been going strong in the Type II market. While they’ve been leaders, I do think they’ll have some competition soon from other Tennessee cultivators. Point Break x OZK is a good flower. It’s got looks. It’s got nose. It’s got a lil’ taste. It’s taking my mind and body in an enjoyable direction. It’s a true hybrid feeling. However, a big thing going for this flower is its unique nose and unfortunately that mostly disappears inside the joint. It’s a taste more reminiscent of 2021 Type III. Is that the genetics or will this improve as they dial the strain in? Only time will tell. That being said, it is a smooth flower with minimal harshness and if for whatever reason you didn’t want that specific aromatic burning cannabis scent, this one could work for you. I’ll be interested to see how this one develops. Overall, this one has me looking forward to trying more Type II flower on the market. Looking forward to the next flower I try from Flow.
