Ethics Statement

The Flavor Chase is an affiliate of Stoney Branch Farms and does have a discount code “TFC10” that will save you a few dollars at checkout. However, prior to becoming an affiliate, I paid for this flower. Though I am in contact with the Stoney Branch team, the company has no influence whatsoever on the contents of my review, nor were they allowed to preview prior to public release. The only money exchanged was me paying for my order. Stoney Branch is aware that for everyone who enters The Flavor Chase, the quality of the product has to speak for itself. And they’re here to compete. So let’s get into the review.

Appearance

As you can see from the main photo, Sugar Queen is an absolutely beautiful flower. It’s light green in color, with a tight, dense structure and is completely covered in trichomes and orange pistils. The cure is also on point, being dry enough to snap, yet moist enough to stick and clump together easily. The look competes with some of the best sativa flower on the market.

Nose

The nose on this flower is interesting. While pungent, it takes on a more dominant herbal profile, with a background citrus zest. It’s a profile that’s almost reminiscent of a medicinal tea or even a bread. Whereas Godfather OG from Stoney Branch is a more noticeable funky profile, and Blueberry Waffles is noticeably fruity, Sugar Queen is noticeably herbal. When you grind the flower, the smell doesn’t change up much, but it does become even more pungent, and earthy notes .

The Smoking Experience (Taste and Effect)

As mentioned earlier, the use on this flower is excellent and perfect for rolling. I rolled approximately 1 gram in a RAW Black Kingsize Slim paper. The dry hit, exactly like the nose, carried heavy herbal notes. Once lit, the nose profile does an excellent job of maintaining its herbal flavor, but the citrus zest and earthiness are harder to notice. I’m certain that with a flower vaporizer that those notes would be more present. Each inhale and exhale is smooth and the ash burns a nice bright light gray.

Effects became more noticeable at the last 1/3 of the joint. Like many Type III strains, there’s a sense of calmness and relaxation that takes over. The head change is minor and perfect for someone who’s a lightweight to THCA. The body buzz is relaxing without becoming overpowering. It’s a very functional feeling, like 2 Truly’s in strength, but a different type of effect.

Final Thoughts and Shelf Placement

Stoney Branch is producing award winning flower and it’s easy to see why. There’s something to be said about the richer terpene profiles in Type III cannabis when grown using living soil practices. Sugar Queen has a few things going for it. It’s got the looks, it has a nose/flavor profile and is noticeably effective. My only critique is that in cannabis, more herbal profiles aren’t quite as common and may not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, if it’s a taste that you enjoy, then you can’t miss with this. Overall, this flower is recommended as part of The Flavor Chase.
